(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's soccer team improved to 6-0 on the season, winning Saturday's Centennial Conference opener, 3-0, over visiting Washington College.
The Red Devils held a 9-0 shot advantage in the first half and finished with a 16-4 advantage for the game. The Devils forced five corners, scoring the first goal on a well-executed play on the third.
Senior Nicolas Tierno (Sicklerville, Pa./Timber Creek Regional) played a short ball to junior Jamie Martin (Chevy Chase, Md./Behtesda-Chevy Chase), who used a give-and-go with Tierno to set up a cross to Chris Shultz (Downingtown, Pa/Downingtown West) for a header inside the far post.
Shultz struck again, just 51 seconds into the second half to stretch the lead to 2-0. Senior Shepherd Waldenberger (Madison, Va./Madison County) made a hard turn in the penalty area, drawing a penalty kick in the 52nd minute of the game. Waldenberger converted to put Dickinson in front, 3-0.
Tyler Cabot played well in goal for Washington, stopping eight shots while Justin Geho turned in a solid performance as well. Senior Cody Hickok (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) made a pair of saves and played a strong game as well.
The Red Devils (6-0, 1-0) remain unbeaten and will head to #9-ranked Messiah College on Tuesday night. Opening kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
