(Haverford, Pa.) – The Dickinson field hockey team suffered a 3-0 setback at Haverford in both teams Centennial Conference opener on Saturday.
The 'Fords struck twice in the first half and tallied another in the second to improve to 4-0 overall. Brenna Boehman put Haverford on the board in the 19th minute and Mary Hobbs added an unassisted goal 9:38 remaining in the half.
Alyssa Mayo netted her first goal of the season with 19:10 remaining in the game for the final of 3-0.
Haverford held a 17-5 advantage in shots and held a 16-6 edge in penalty corners. Junior goaltender Katy Schlechtweg (Mount Laurel, N.J./Moorestown Friends) made seven saves in the cage. First-year Emily Fuss (Newtown Square, Pa./Notre Dame Academy) came on and stopped a shot as well.
The Red Devils slip to 3-3 overall. They return home to host Gettysburg on Wednesday at 4:00 pm.
