(Bryn Mawr, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's basketball team turned in a dominant performance in the first half, opening a 36-20 advantage at Bryn Mawr on Saturday. They continued after the break to post a, 71-39, Centennial Conference win.
Senior Bridget Borgese (Swarthmore, Pa./Notre Dame de Namur) scored the first two baskets and the Red Devils used a 12-0 run to pull in front, 24-11 , with 6:33 remaining in the first half. They stretched the margin to 34-14 before the Owls closed the half with a 6-0 run.
The Devils continued to build on the lead in the second half, almost matching the outcome of the opening 20 minutes. Dickinson held the Owls to just four points in the first eight minutes of the second half.
They stretched the lead to as many as 34 in the late minutes as they improve to 7-3 overall and 3-3 in the Centennial Conference.
Sophomore Liz Schultz (Dunmore, Pa./Scranton Prep) led the Red Devils with 14 points, hitting 5-of-8 shots from the floor and 4-of-4 from the line. She added three rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals as well.
Borgese finished in double-figures with 11 points, three rebounds and three steals. Senior Belma Mekic (Sarajevo, Bosnia/Cedar Cliff) tallied 10 points, five rebounds and three steals.
Senior forward Dana Walsh (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) recorded five steals on the day, adding six points, four assists and three rebounds. Sophomore Carmen Mann (Vienna, Va./James Madison) pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds, including four on the offensive end.
Sarah Phillips (West Amwell, N.J./South Hunderdon) chipped in with eight points while Lindsay Finnerty (Tenafly, N.J./Tenafly) each scored six points and combined for five steals. Kelsey Barclay (New York, N.Y./Loyola School) dished out three assists and added three points.
As a team the Devils forced 35 turnovers and recorded 24 steals on the day. They shot 80 percent from the stripe, hitting 15-of-18 attempts.
Ashlee Williams led Bryn Mawr (1-9, 0-7 CC) with 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Jackie Handy recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, adding four steals and two assists.
The Red Devils (7-3, 3-3) travel to Washington College on Tuesday for a 3:00 pm tip-off.
