(Swarthmore, Pa.) – The #10-ranked Dickinson men's soccer team struck early at Centennial Conference rival Swarthmore on Saturday, but the Garnet answered with two goals for a 2-1 win.
Senior Derek Kachadurian (Weston, Mass./Weston) put Dickinson on the board, just 2:36 in the match, beating a number of Garnet defenders on a breakaway.
Swarthmore answered with a header from Alec McClean in the 23rd minute to pull the Garnet even, 1-1. Jack Momeyer tallied the game-winner in the 72nd minute, putting away a rebound as first-year goaltender Jeremy Palcan (Park Ridge, Ill./St. Ignatius College Prep) defected a cross.
The Devils had chances down the stretch, drawing a pair of free-kicks from about 25 yards out. Swarthmore goalkeeper Peter Maxted made three saves on the night, including a big one in the final minutes to secure the win.
Palcan finished with one save on the night as the defense allowed just three shots on goal. The Garnet held an 11-8 advantage in overall shots while the Devils forced nine corners while allowing just one.
The Garnet improves to 8-2-4 overall and 4-0-2 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils slip to 10-3-1 overall and 3-2-1 on the CC. The Red Devils return home to host Muhlenberg on Wednesday night at 7:00 pm.
