(Carlisle, Pa.) – Senior forward Derek Kachadurian (Weston, Mass./Weston) scored off a rebound in the 86th minute to lead the #17-ranked Dickinson men's soccer team to 1-0 victory over visiting Muhlenberg on Wednesday night.
The Mules opened with a dangerous attack, early in the match but junior goaltender Reed Milbrath (Dickerson, Md./Sandy Springs Friends) was there to make the stop.
The match proved to be very physical with a significant amount of long clears out of the defensive ends of the field. Both teams had quality chances to put goals on the board but solid defense and some outstanding goalkeeping kept the game scoreless.
Muhlenberg appeared to be gaining some momentum late in the match, but it was the Devils who would strike, scoring on a strong counter.
Sophomore Alfred Hylton-Dei (Geneva, Switzerland/Mercersburg Academy) collected the ball and played a long serve to the right top corner of the penalty area. First-year Danny Sheppard (Rydal, Pa./Abington) fired a shot that was saved by Muhlenberg goalkeeper, Danny Pinto.
The deflection, however, went to the foot of the Devils' leading scorer, and Kachadurian found the back of the net to give Dickinson a key Centennial Conference win.
Pinto turned in a strong performance, making seven saves on the night. Milbrath was solid all night as well, finishing with 11 saves. The Mules slip to 7-7-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the conference. The Red Devils improved to 11-3-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the CC.
The Red Devils travel to Franklin & Marshall on Saturday for a 3:00 kick-off. They return home for the regular season finale against Washington College on November 2nd at 1:00 pm.
