(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's lacrosse team played right with #6-ranked Franklin & Marshall until a second half surge put the Diplomats in control in the second half. The Diplomats improved to 13-2 overall and 8-1 in the Centennial Conference with a 21-12 decision.
F&M struck first, taking a 2-0 lead in the opening five minutes of the game. First-year Jennifer Morrissey (Rockville, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) answered off an assist from sophomore Ali Dawson (Carle Place, N.Y./Carle Place).
Sophomore Carly O'Brien (Cranberry, N.J./Princeton Day School) scored three goals and handed out an assist to Caroline Clancy (Monkton, Md./Hereford) as the Devils were within one at halftime, trailing, 8-7.
Clancy found the net twice in the first half and answered a pair of Diplomat goals to open the second half, making the score, 10-8, with 26:19 remaining in the game.
F&M went on an 11-0 run to pull ahead, 21-8, with 8:27 left to play. The Devils continued to battle, netting the final four goals of the game. Kara Glazer (Towson, Md./Towson) scored once and assisted Lauren Jonas (Reisterstown, Md./McDonogh) on another. Dawson and Clancy tacked on scores as well for the final of 21-12.
O'Brien led the way with three goals and two assists while Clancy found the net four times on the day. Colleen Zulty (Jarretsville, Md./The John Carroll School) caused three turnovers while senior Chloe Golod (Huntington, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) and first-year Moira Mahoney (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) each caused a pair.
Morrissey controlled five draws to go with her goal. She finishes the season tied for the school record for assists by a first year with 17 this season.
Amanda Morse (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) earned the start in goal, making eight saves on the day. Grace Morelli (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) came on for the final 15 minutes.
The Red Devils close out the season, 7-9 overall and 3-6 in the Centennial Conference.
