Kachadurian Leads #12-Ranked Red Devils to 3-0 Win

Box Score

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The #12-ranked Dickinson men's soccer team continued its strong start to the season, improving to 5-0 on the season, blanking Alvernia University, 3-0, on Saturday night.

The Red Devils scored 5:38 into the contest as senior Javier Mena (San Salvador, El Salvador/The American School) served a beautiful ball over the defense to classmate Derek Kacahdurian (Weston, Mass./Weston), who scored his third goal of the season.

Kachadurian returned the favor, lofting a corner to the head of Drew Carneal (Woodbine, Md./Sandy Springs Friends) for another Red Devil goal, stretching the lead to, 2-0, in the 18th minute.

The Devils tacked on another insurance goal early in the second half. Sophomore Isaac Pitkow (Jenkintown, Pa./Abington) carried the ball into the net with a well-timed slide on another brilliant cross from Kachadurian. Mena added an assist on the play with a well played volley to Kachadurian.

Mena just missed, but added to the highlights, rattling a bicycle kick off the crossbar moments later, igniting a loud and excited crowd at Phyllis Joan Miller Memorial Field.

The Red Devils held a 16-6 advantage in shots, outshooting the Crusaders, 10-3, in the second half. Junior Reed Milbrath (Dickerson, Md./Sandy Springs Friends) made five saves with a solid performance in the nets.

Ryan Bouseman (San Antonio, Texas/Reagan) gave the Devils strong play in the defensive effort. Dickinson received quality play from all over the field, controlling possession for the better part of the match.

Alvernia goaltender David Giannini played well in the nets for the Crusaders, making five saves on the night as well. Alex Martyn played well in the middle for Alvernia as well, as they slip to 2-4 on the season.

The Red Devils improve to 5-0 in the year. Mena dished out his 19th career assist, to rank third all-time in program history, and fourth in career points with 69.

The #12-ranked Red Devils will host #1-ranked Messiah College on Tuesday night at Miller Field. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm. The Red Devils Sports Network will broadcast the game live, beginning approximately 6:45 pm.
