(Selinsgrove, Pa.) – The Dickinson volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Susquehanna Invitational on Saturday, moving to 2-5 on the season. The Red Devils fell to Haverford, 3-0, but rebounded for a 3-0 victory against Morrisville State (NY).
Haverford opened with a 25-16 decision in the first set. Dickinson challenged the 'Fords the whole way in the second, but fell, 25-23. Haverford closed out the match with a 25-14, third set.
Sophomore Laura Silverman (Marlborough, Mass./Marlborough) led the Devils with eight kills and a block. Emily Smith (Victor, N.Y./Victor) added five kills and six digs while Jenn Morrissey (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) dished out 23 assists, adding an ace, four digs and a block.
Dickinson picked up its second win of the season with a dominant performance against Morrisville. The Red Devils rolled to a three-set win (25-10, 25-9, 25-10).
Silverman led the way again, reaching double-figures with 10 kills. Smith added eight while Joanna DeCastro (Far Hills, N.J./West Morris Mendham) recorded seven kills and served up four aces in the win.
Senior Emily Kisak (Columbia, Md./Howard) chipped in with a pair of aces, adding three kills and two blocks. Morrissey tallied 21 assists and an ace.
The Red Devils return home to host Penn State Altoona on Tuesday evening at 7:30 pm.
