8-0 Rout Leads Red Devils to Ninth Straight Win

Box Score

(Swarthmore, Pa.) – The Dickinson field hockey team saw seven different players score in an 8-0 rout at Swarthmore College on Saturday. The Red Devils won their ninth straight game, improving to 9-1 overall and 3-0 in the Centennial Conference.

Sophomore Kendall Packo (Timonium, Md./Notre Dame Prep) led the way with a pair of goals while junior Caroline Karwel (Fairfax Station, Va./South County Secondary) dished out three assists on the afternoon.

First-year Amber Dey (Flemington, N.J./South Hunterdon) struck first, putting the Devils on the board, just 2:45 into the contest, scoring off an assist from junior Alyssa Stillwell (Shamong, N.J./Seneca).

Stillwell found the back of the cage, just four minutes later off an assist from senior Ali Becker (Spring House, Pa./Germantown Academy) as the Devils were off to another strong start.

Karwel picked up her first assist of the day as sophomore Catherine Perlmutter (Blue Bell, Pa./Germantown Academy) tallied her team-high ninth goal of the season to put the Devils in front 3-0, at the 26:11 mark.

Sophomore Sarah Cole (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) gave the Devils a 4-0 lead at halftime, scoring her first collegiate goal with an assist from Perlmutter in the 12th minute.

The scoring would hold for the remainder of the half, but the Devils would come alive again after the break. Packo started the second half assault, scoring twice off assists from Karwel. That put the Devils up, 6-0, with just over 16 minutes remaining in the game.

First-year Katherine Sullivan (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) closed things out for the Red Devils with a stick in both of the final two goals. She rattled the cage with her first collegiate goal in the 66th minute and then handed out and assist to junior Taylor Meehan (Phoenixville, Md./Bishop Shanahan) for the final tally of the afternoon.

First-year Freddie Bancroft (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) made the start in goal for Dickinson, posting her first collegiate shutout. Her defense did not allow a shot on goal, holding the Garnet to just three shots on the day.

Ellory Laning made 10 saves in goal for Swarthmore as they slip to 1-8 overall and 0-2 in the Centennial Conference.

The Red Devils return to action next Saturday, traveling to Muhlenberg College for an 11:30 start.
