(Haverford, Pa.) – The #29-ranked Dickinson men's squash team posted the program's first win over a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) opponent, knocking off #26-ranked Tufts University, 6-3, at Haverford College on Saturday.
The Red Devils captured the top six flights. First-year Abdelrahman Elsergany (Cairo, Egypt/Kent School, Conn.) clinched the match, winning the top flight in four sets. He overcame a 12-10 setback in the opener, winning three straight, (11-0, 11-7, 11-6).
Eight of nine flights went four sets in a tightly contested match. Brian Hamilton (Wyndmoor, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) overcame a slow start as well, winning the second flight (5-11, 11-4, 11-2, 11-4).
Hal Holappa (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) traded 11-9 scores and then went up, 2-1, with an 11-1 third set decision. He closed out the match, winning the fourth, 11-5.
Cory Litman (Lower Merion, Pa./Lower Merion) win the fourth flight while Andrew Strudwick (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest Academy) and Harrison Mayo (Penn Valley, Pa./Harriton) closed out the fifth and sixth with 11-1 wins in the fourth set.
Nicholas Struzenski (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) battled in the seventh flight, but fell (11-7, 9-11, 11-8, 11-8).
The Red Devils improve to 9-3 on the season. They travel to the Pioneer Valley Round Robin on January 15th.
