(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's tennis team suffered an 8-1 setback to #27-nationally ranked Swarthmore College on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils captured the top doubles match to earn the first point, but the Garnet would claim the rest as they improve to 6-1 in the Centennial Conference, coming off a loss to Johns Hopkins. Clark Chapman (Princeton, N.J./Montgomery) and Steven Kaplan (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) earned the point in doubles, 8-4.
Joey Frank (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Boca Raton) and Samuel Loring (New York, N.Y./Blair Academy) battled to an 8-5 setback in the second flight. Frank won the first set at second singles, 7-5, but Mark Fallati rallied 6-3, 10-8.
Loring dropped a heartbreaker in the first set, 7-6 (12-10), before Michael Song closed out the match, 6-2, in the sixth.
The Red Devils slip to 6-4 overall and 4-2 in the Centennial Conference. They have back-to-back road matches at McDaniel and Muhlenberg on Tuesday and Wednesday before returning home to face Franklin & Marshall on Saturday.
