(Towson, Md.) – The Dickinson men's soccer team outshot host Goucher College, 8-1, in the first half but was unable to find the back of the net. The Red Devils changed that after the break, striking twice to post a 2-0 victory on Tuesday night.
Senior Alfred Hylton-Dei (Geneva, Switzerland/Mercersburg Academy, Pa.) put the Red Devils on the board in the 69th minute, finishing a beautiful goal with an assist from Matt Edmonds (Lexington, Mass./Lexington).
First-year Ward Van de Water (Warrenton, Va./Highland) had an open look in the middle and tallied his first collegiate goal to put Dickinson up, 2-0, with 6:11 remaining in the game.
Goucher had a chance off a corner in the 59th minute, but the Dickinson defense cleared it off the line, marking their only save of the night. Junior Jeremy Palcan (Park Ridge, Ill./St. Ignatius Prep) earned the shutout behind a strong effort from his defense.
Daniel Hendry finished with one save for the Gophers as they slip to 1-3-1 on the season.
The Red Devils finished with a 14-4 advantage in shots and forced ten corners on the night while allowing just one on the defensive end.
Dickinson improves to 3-1 on the season. They return home to face Alvernia University on Thursday night at 7:00 pm. The match was originally scheduled for Saturday, but was postponed.
