(Bethlehem, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's volleyball team advanced to the championship round of the Moravian College Greyhound Classic with two wins on Friday, but suffered a pair of tough losses on Saturday to close out the tournament.
Eastern University improved to 4-0 with a three-set win over the Devils on Saturday morning. Senior Emily Smith (Victor, N.Y./Victor) led the attack with eight kills while sophomore Gillian Chan (New York, N.Y./Poly Prep Country Day) added three kills and four blocks.
First-year Hannah Smith (Victor, N.Y./Victor) handed out 11 assists and tallied four digs. Junior libero Arielle Misrok (Ardsley, N.Y./Ardsley) recorded five digs in the opener on Saturday.
The Red Devils had a stronger showing in their final match, despite a 3-0 setback to Stevens Institute of Technology. The Ducks claimed the opening set 25-18, and stretched the lead with a 25-15 decision in the second. Dickinson continued to battle, but dropped the third, 25-19.
Smith led the way again with nine kills, adding a pair of aces and five digs. Hannah Smith handed out 24 assists while Misrok added a game-high 16 digs.
Sophomore Norma Jean Park (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) and Chan combined for 11 kills while sophomore Erin Bongo (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) chipped in with five digs, two aces and three kills in the match.
The Red Devils slip to 2-3 on the season. They return for their home opener on Tuesday night, hosting Goucher College at 7:00 pm.
