Box Score (Huntingdon, Pa.) – The Dickinson field hockey team had to work overtime at Juniata College on Wednesday night, but senior Catherine Perlmutter (Blue Bell, Pa./Germantown Academy) scored on a penalty corner, just 1:15 into the extra period to lead the Red Devils to a 1-0 victory.
The Red Devils dominated the match on paper, outshooting the Eagles, 17-3, and holding a 15-5 advantage on penalty corners. Dickinson did not allow a shot in the first half and held a 10-3 edge in the second period before recording the only shot in the extra frame.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kylie Edwards kept the hosts in the game, turning away seven shots while Meredith Shephard added a defensive save to keep the match level.
Junior goalkeeper Freddie Bancroft (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) faced just one shot on the night, making the lone save to earn the shutout.
The Red Devils broke the school record with their 55th goal of the season on Wednesday night and raised the school mark for points in a season to 146 with 36 assists on the year.
The Red Devils improve to 11-5 overall. They return home for the Centennial Conference regular season finale with Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. Game time is set for 11:00 am.
