(Scranton, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's swim team improved to 3-1 on the season, posting a 171-91 win at the University of Scranton on Saturday.
Senior Sam Eaton (Port Matilda, Pa./State College) highlighted the day with three wins and a pool record in the 100 breaststroke, clocking a time of 59.39. He added wins in the 200 breaststroke (2:15.13) and with the 400 medley relay (3:41.68). He anchored the second place 400 free relay (1:30.95) as the teams swam an extended program.
Sophomore Ben Shapiro (Wynnewood, Pa./Friends Central) was a triple-winner as well. He led-off the medley relay and claimed wins in the 200 backstroke (2:07.99) and the 200 individual medley (2:02.94). He placed third in the 100 backstroke, posting a time of 57.61.
Sophomore Kiernan Jordan (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) joined both relays and swept the 100 and 200 butterfly events with winning times of 54.12 and 2:00.22. First-year Graham Novitch (Scarsdale, N.Y./Scarsdale) touched the wall second in the 100 butterfly (55.26), joining the free relay for silver and winning the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.67.
Senior Alex Bennett (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) won the 100 (49.41) and 200 (1:47.72) freestyle events and led-off the second-place free relay. Classmate Travis Lipscomb (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights) anchored the medley relay and added a second in the 50 free (22.66) and third in the 100 free with a mark of 50.87.
First-year Will Freeman (Haddonfield, N.J./Pennington School) and junior Nick Beard (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) gave the Devils a sweep in the 100 breaststroke, taking second and third with times of 1:02.51 and 1:03.47. Freeman was second in the 200 individual medley (2:04.00) and Beard captured second in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:19.42.
The Red Devils went one-two in the 1000 freestyle with junior Mitch Reynolds (Frederick, Md./Frederick) leading the way with a time of 10:24.56. First-year James Cummings (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) was second in 10:37.01.
Senior Sasha Jouravlev (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) was second in the 200 backstroke while classmate Brian Reid (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) and first-year John Crafa (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) added third place showings in the 200 freestyle (1:52.76) and 200 butterfly (2:15.92).
The Red Devils are home next Saturday, hosting Bloomsburg University at 1:00 pm.
