Box Score (Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's lacrosse team held off a late surge from Lebanon Valley on Wednesday night, posting a 9-7 win on Biddle Field.
First-year Sam Marmo (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Immaculate Heart) put the Red Devils on the board with an unassisted goal at the 19:34 mark. Senior Jennifer Morrissey (Rockville, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) scored just over a minute later, recording the 100th-point of her career.
The Dutchwomen countered with back-to-back goals to tie the game before first-year Anne Dunster (Cos Cob, Conn./Greenwich) found the net and assisted sophomore Katie Barton (Cincinnati, Ohio/Cincinnati Country Day) to put Dickinson up, 4-2, with 7:36 remaining in the half.
Sam Boyce tallied for the visitors to cut the deficit to one as the teams headed into halftime.
Senior Caroline Clancy (Monkton, Md./Hereford) added an assist and a goal as the Devils traded scores to hold a 6-5 advantage with 11:25 remaining in the game.
The Red Devils found some momentum, netting three straight to pull ahead, 9-5. Sophie Waine (Wellesley, Mass./Greenwich) finished an assist from Morrissey before Dunster fed Maddy Siebold (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) and then scored her second, with 4:45 to play.
The Red Devils were able to burn some clock, looking to secure the lead in the final minutes. The Dutchwomen would strike twice more, but the last came with just three seconds on the clock for the final of 9-7.
Senior Moira Mahoney (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) turned in a dominant performance, causing three takeaways and four ground balls. The Red Devils caused 14 turnovers on the night and held a 10-8 edge on draw controls.
Dunster finished with two goals and three assists to pace the attack. Seibold scored twice as well and pulled down six draw controls while Morrissey and Clancy each had a goal and assist.
Tara Cuddihy (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) made some huge saves on the night, finishing with nine, adding a critical interception as well.
The Red Devils improve to 2-2 on the season. They open Centennial Conference play on Saturday, hosting Bryn Mawr College at 12:00 pm.
