Box Score (Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's lacrosse team played even with visiting Washington College until a four-goal run to start the second half put the Shorewomen in front on the way to a 13-8 win on Saturday.
Washington jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before junior Maddy Siebold (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) put the Red Devils on the board with a free position goal at the 25:55 mark.
Washington made it 3-1 before Dickinson went on a 3-0 run to pull in front, 4-3. Sam Marmo (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Immaculate Heart) scored twice while senior Caroline Clancy (Monkton, Md./Hereford) dished out an assist, scoring the 100th point of her career.
The teams went back and forth with Siebold finding the net twice to give the Red Devils a 7-6 lead at halftime.
Washington came out strong once again, starting the second half with four straight goals to take a 10-7 lead with exactly 16 minutes remaining. Marmo broke free and drove to the cage, cutting the deficit to just two with 14:15 left to play.
The Shorewomen worked the clock in a settled offense but the Red Devil defense was able to force some turnovers as the Devils tried to pull even. Katherine Vincent scored back-to-back goals to give Washington a 12-8 advantage, and Carley Kendall tallied a late score for the final of 13-8.
Marmo and Siebold each recorded a hat-trick while Siebold controlled four draws. Senior Moira Mahoney (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) grabbed three draw controls, picked-up four ground balls and caused six turnovers on the day. First-year Lucy Reider (Parkton, Md./Hereford) caused three turnovers and had four GBs as well.
Junior goaltender Tara Cuddihy (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) made four saves, adding a caused turnover and a pair of GBs.
Washington College improves to 8-5 overall and 3-2 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils slip to 6-6 and 2-3 in the CC. Dickinson travels to McDaniel College on Wednesday for a 7:00 pm start.
