Siebold Nets Five to Send Devils to Semifinals

(Haverford, Pa.) – Dickinson junior Maddy Siebold (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) scored a natural hat-trick to start the game in the opening round of the Centennial Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship on Wednesday afternoon at Haverford. The Red Devils jumped out to a 6-0 lead and advanced to the semifinals with an 11-6 victory.

Siebold found the net three times in the opening three minutes, finishing the third off an assist from senior Caroline Clancy (Monkton, Md./Hereford) at the 23:22 mark.

Senior Jennifer Morrissey (Rockville, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) stretched the margin to 4-0, scoring off a feed from first-year Sam Marmo (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Immaculate Heart) with 20:42 remaining in the half.

First-year Anne Dunster (Cos Cob, Conn./Greenwich) and Marmo capitalized on free positions to extend the margin to 6-0 with 8:01 on the clock.

The 'Fords put a goal on the board at the 6:25 mark to make the score 6-1 at the break. Rina Rosnow struck first in the second half to cut the lead to four before Siebold answered with a pair of goals in a span of less than a minute to put Dickinson up, 8-2.

Clancy and Morrissey each tallied before Christina Gould fed Rosnow and followed up with a goal of her own to make the score, 10-4, with just over 11 minutes to play. Morrissey finished another assist from Clancy and Haverford tacked on a pair of late scores for the final of 11-6.

Siebold netted five goals, controlling a game-high nine draw controls as the Red Devils claimed 14-of-19 on the afternoon. Morrissey finished with a hat-trick as well while Clancy scored once and tallied two assists.

Senior Moira Mahoney (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) caused three turnovers, controlled four GBs and grabbed a pair of draws.

Junior goaltender Tara Cuddihy (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) turned in another outstanding performance in the nets, making 10 saves, causing a pair of turnovers and picking up four ground balls. Molli Haimerl (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) played well defensively, causing two turnovers and controlling a pair of GBs.

The Red Devils improve to 10-7 on the season. They will travel to top-seed and #4-ranked Franklin & Marshall on Saturday for the semifinals at 1:30 pm. Gettysburg and Washington College meet in the other semifinal at 4:30 pm.
