Box Score (Swarthmore, Pa.) – The Dickinson field hockey team improved to 3-0 in the Centennial Conference with a 4-0 win at Swarthmore College on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils put their first goal on the board, just 5:17 into the match, capitalizing on a penalty corner. First-year Delaney Ahn (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) redirected a shot from junior Kim Monteferante (Putman Valley, Pa./Lakeland) for the first collegiate goal of her career.
The Red Devils tallied their second goal of the game in a similar fashion as Taylor Bednar (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) tipped in a hard shot from senior Merritt Davis (Baltimore, Md./Garrison Forest) with 11:58 remaining in the first half.
The Red Devils stretched the lead to 3-0 before the break, just under two minutes later as junior Amber Dey (Flemington, N.J./South Hunterdon) collected her own rebound and put the ball in the back of the cage.
Dey closed out the scoring with her second of the game, again off a rebound with just under two minutes remaining.
The Red Devils dominated the game statistically, outshooting the host 35-3 while holding a 14-2 advantage in penalty corners.
Zelda Bank made 20 saves for Swarthmore as they fell to 4-5 overall and 0-2 in the Centennial Conference.
First-year goalkeeper Heather Meeder (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) improved to 4-0 on the season. She split time with junior Freddie Bancroft (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) but neither face a shot on goal.
The Red Devils improve to 5-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference. They travel to Frostburg State University on Wednesday. Game time is set for 4:00 pm.
