(Princeton, N.J.) – The #20-ranked Dickinson women's squash team closed out the College Squash Association Team Championships on a high note, holding off #19-Bowdoin College, 5-4, on Sunday morning at Princeton.
The Red Devils jumped out to a 4-1 start and held off a rally from Bowdoin to finish the season 9-12 overall.
Sophomore Domenica Romo (Ambato, Ecuador/Colegio Atenas) played another strong match, surviving a five-set marathon at in the second flight (7-11, 11-8, 3-11, 11-9, 14-12).
Abbie Wingerd (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) went the distance to win the sixth after trailing 2-0. She won the third, 14-12 and went on to claim the match with scores of (11-4, 11-7) in the fourth and fifth.
Sarah Murphy (Hamilton, Mass./Brooks School) and Merritt Davis (Baltimore, Md./Garrison Forest) both played to 1-1 starts before capturing 3-1 decisions in the seventh and eight flights. Murphy won at seven, (11-5, 8-11, 11-9, 11-8) while Davis posted scores of (11-5, 5-11, 11-8, 11-7).
Nicole DeLuca (Newtown Square, Pa./The Baldwin School) played a hard fought match in the third, suffering a 3-2 setback (10-12, 7-11, 11-8, 11-1, 11-9).
The Devils won the ninth flight by default with senior Patricia Francis-Hall (New York, N.Y./Pomfret School) earning the point.
The Red Devils travel to Dartmouth College next weekend for the CSA Individual Championships.
