Devils Post Two Wins at CSA Championships to Finish Off Season

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Dickinson women's squash team concluded their season on Saturday with a pair of matches at the College Squash Association Team Championship. In the first contest of the day the Red and White knocked off Centennial Conference foe Haverford College by a score of 7-2, before besting the Camels of Connecticut 5-4.

Inside the Match

Dickinson started things down 1-0 due to a win by default for Giselle Zhang at number nine. Then, at number one, Anabel Romero continued to cruise through her rookie campaign by taking down Joelle Phuah in three. Katie Herring and Thea Hegde playing in the two and three slots allowed fewer than 20 combined points to Zoe Liu and Avallina Orfield in straight game victories. Victoria Savelius (4th) and Gabi El-Masry (5th) just kept things rolling for the Red and White with triumphs over Ofri Geva and Amy Saxon in under 20 minutes each. Both Lila Brown and Lauren Flowers secured wins at seven and eight respectively, while at six Grace Miller was tripped up by Matilda Chartener.

Match Two - DEVILS 5, Camels 4
Inside the Match
The Red and White claimed the match by winning in the first five flights. At number one, Romero dropped the first game 11-7 to Kendry Sol Navas Perez, before storming back to win the next three. Just below her Herring allowed seven points to Aarushi Reddy in a 3-0 win. Hegde needed three games to dispatch of Gwyneth Perez-Perez, while Savelius required just under a half-hour to bring down Ariana Michaca in four. El-Masry collected the match winning point with 3-0 defeat of Miranda Medina. The Camels earned their points at six through eight as Miller, Brown and Flowers all went down in straight games to all Connecticut to close within the 5-4 final.
