Marmo Tallies 10 Points in Red Devil Win

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's lacrosse team had a great home opener, jumping out to an early lead on the way to a 17-8 win over visiting Lebanon Valley College on Wednesday.

Sophomore Sam Marmo (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) tuned in a monster game, scoring six goals and handing out four assists. Her 10 points ranks fourth on the program, single-game list.

Senior Maddy Siebold (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) had a big day as well, finding the net five times on the afternoon.

The Red Devils struck just 1:09 into the contest as Marmo put her first on the board. Marmo bookended a 7-0 run to start the game, netting a hat-trick at the 13:43 mark of the first half.

Lebanon Valley countered with a free position goal, with 9:24 remaining. The teams traded scores over the final 5:24 of the half with Siebold scoring in the final seconds to put Dickinson in front, 10-3, at the break.

Makenzie Kelley and Nikki Lloyd sandwiched a pair of extra-man goals around another strike from Marmo to make the score, 11-5, at the 21:27 mark of the second half.

The Devils strung together three straight with Siebold scoring twice and sophomore Eleanor Kaestner (Glyndon, Md./Franklin) adding one to stretch the margin to 14-5, with 14:19 left to play.

Marmo finished strong as well, dishing out three assists and scoring twice on the Devils' final five goals of the game. Benna O'Neill tallied a late goal for the final of 17-8.

Hannah Oliveras made 10 saves in goal for LVC as they fall to 0-3 on the season. Jones led the attack with two goals and an assist.

Senior Tara Cuddihy (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) made 10 saves in the nets for Dickinson. Kaestner finished with a pair of goals with Sophie Waine (Wellesley, Mass./Greenwich) and Maddie Parker (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman), each scoring once.

Anne Dunster (Cos Cob, Conn./Greenwich) and Allison Carey (Weston, Conn./Laurelton Hall) and added a goal and assist while Talene Bush (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) tallied an assist as well. Senior Molli Haimerl (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) anchored a tremendous defensive effort with five ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.

The Red Devils even their record at 2-2 on the season. They travel to Tennessee next week for a pair of games at Vanderbilt University. The Red Devils will face Trinity College on Thursday, March 16th at 11:00 am and take on Ithaca College at 11:00 am on Saturday. Both games at Vanderbilt's Nachez Field.
