Mules Claim Key Match Up in Women's Lacrosse

(Allentown, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's lacrosse team headed to Allentown tied for second in the Centennial Conference standings with host Muhlenberg College. The Mules put together strong scoring runs to start each half, claiming the win, 15-7.

The Mules jumped out to an early lead, scoring the first four goals of the game. The Red Devils regrouped and went on a 5-0 run to pull in front, late in the first half.

Senior Maddy Siebold (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) converted back-to-back free position goals and sophomore Eleanor Kaestner (Glyndon, Md./Franklin) added one as well, cutting the deficit to 4-3, with just under 16 minutes to play in the half.

Maddie Parker (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) and Anne Dunster (Cos Cobb, Conn./Greenwich) scored unassisted goals to put Dickinson on top, 5-4, with 4:22 on the clock.

Muhlenberg pulled even and scored on a fast break on the next draw to regain the lead at halftime, 6-5.

The hosts had another strong start, scoring five straight to lead, 11-5, with 22:11 remaining. Kaestner broke up the run, scoring off an assist from Siebold.

Senior Sophie Waine (Wellesley, Mass./Greenwich) tallied a goal for the Red Devils while Muhlenberg added four to close out the game and move into a first-place tie with Gettysburg and Franklin & Marshall.

The Mules improve to 12-2 overall and 6-1 in the conference. The Red Devils slip to 5-2 in the CC and 8-6 overall, holding the #4-spot in the standings.

Senior Tara Cuddihy (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) made 10 saves, adding a ground ball and caused turnover on the day. Sara Allison turned in a strong performance for Muhlenberg as well, stopping 14 shots.

Molli Haimerl (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) controlled five ground balls while Allison Carey (Weston, Conn./Laurelton Hall) picked up four. Ashley Conner (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) forced a pair of turnovers and added two GBs as well.

The Red Devils have another big challenge on Wednesday as #9-ranked Franklin & Marshall comes to Carlisle for a 4:00 pm opening draw.
