Box Score (Collegeville, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's lacrosse team turned in a great performance in the regular season finale at Ursinus College, posting a 21-12 win to secure the #4-seed in next week's Centennial Conference playoffs. The Red Devils will host #5-seed Washington College on Wednesday at a time to be determined on Monday morning.
The teams traded goals in the early minutes before sophomore Sam Marmo (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) tallied back-to-back goals to put Dickinson in front, 4-2.
Senior Sophie Waine (Wellesley, Mass./Greenwich) scored twice down the stretch and classmate Maddy Siebold (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) found the net with just eight seconds remaining in the half to put the Devils up, 11-5, at the break.
Anne Dunster (Cos Cobb, Conn./Greenwich) struck early in the second half and senior defender Molli Haimerl (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) scored to cap a 6-0 run that put Dickinson up, 17-7, at the 18:24 mark.
The Bears were able to match goals over the final 12 minutes but were unable to gain any ground the Red Devils, drawing three yellow cards as they tried to gain possession.
Marmo finished with five goals while classmate Eleanor Kaestner (Glyndon, Md./Franklin) found the net five times as well. Dunster tallied a hat-trick with three goals and an assist, and first-yer Ashley Conner (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) netted three goals as well.
Allison Carey (Weston, Conn./Laurelton Hall) dished out four assists while Waine finished with two goals and a pair of assists. Siebold scored twice and controlled 13 draws while Tara Cassidy (Glen Rock, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) pulled down three draw controls.
First-year Layne Taber (Ruxton, Md./St. Paul's) made nine saves in the nets for Dickinson as they improve to 9-7 overall and 6-3 in the conference.
The Red Devils will host Washington College on Wednesday in the first round of the Centennial Conference playoffs.
