Box Score (Lancaster, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's soccer team suffered a heartbreaker at Franklin & Marshall as Jason Tonelli scored his second goal of the game with just 2:54 remaining in regulation to lead the Diplomats to a 2-1 win on Wednesday night.
The match was a dogfight throughout with play going from end to end all night. The Diplomats struck first, scoring just 2:48 into the match with Tonelli netting his sixth goal of the season.
The Red Devils answered on a brilliant free-kick as senior Matt Edmonds (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) went upper-90 into the left corner from 25 yards out to even the match, 1-1, with just under 15 minutes remaining in the first half.
The second half was a stalemate as the Red Devils pulled even in shots and both teams received outstanding play from their goaltenders. Christian Amoruso came on in the second half and turned away a great chance on a breakaway, finishing with three saves for F&M.
Sophomore Frederick Meagher (Southport, Conn./Fairfield-Ludlowe) had a great outing as well, making five saves on the night.
The Diplomats improve to 4-4-1 overall and 2-1 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils slip to 5-3-1 and 1-1-1 in the CC. Dickinson returns home to face Ursinus College on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
