(Geneva, N.Y.) – The #17-ranked Dickinson women's squash team captured a 7-2 victory over #23 William Smith College on Saturday afternoon.
Junior Domenica Romo (Ambato, Ecuador/Colegio Atenas) had a strong start, posting a 3-0 win (11-2, 11-6, 11-4) in the third flight while first-year Eloise Nimoityn (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Episcopal Academy) claimed the second spot, 3-1.
Nicole DeLuca (Newtown Square, Pa./Baldwin) and Stuart Lemay (Harwich Port, Mass./Westover School, Conn.) turned in a pair of dominant performances, winning (11-2, 11-1, 11-6) and (11-2, 11-5, 11-4), respectively.
First-year Carley Barton (Harare, Zimbabwe/Chisipite) claimed a 3-0 decision in the eighth as well. Aya Sobhy (Stroudsburg, Pa./Blair Academy) overcame a tough first set and finished strong to win her flight (9-11, 11-4, 11-9, 11-2).
Junior Hedvika Suchankova (Olomouc, Czech Republic/St. Michael's) battled in the top spot, falling 3-2 with scores of (8-11, 9-11, 12-10, 8-11, 11-5).
The Red Devils improve to 2-5 on the season. They return home to face Tufts University on Monday morning at 10:00 am.
