Second Half Surge Leads Field Hockey to 6-1 Win

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson field hockey team erupted with four second half goals to post a 6-1 victory over visiting Bryn Mawr College on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils scored on their first shot of the game as senior Chelsea Kramer (New Vernon, N.J./Morristown-Beard) finished on a beautiful cross from Mia Scott (Mount Laurel, N.J./Holy Cross), nine minutes into the match.

The Red Devils put together a nice build from midfield, ending with sophomore Maddie Dombroski (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) dishing an assist to Sydney Engler (Boyertown, Pa./Oley Valley) for her second goal in as many games, stretching the lead to 2-0 with just under 20 minutes to play in the half.

Bailey Turner redirected a well-placed cross from Ryann McManus with just over five minutes remaining in the half to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Kramer tallied her second of the game, scoring off a rebound, just over three minutes into the second half.

The Red Devils finished strong three goals in the final 20 minutes. Scott scored off an assist from first-year Amanda Fruman (Owings Mills, Md./Garrison Forest) and Alana Platukus (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Pittston Area) tipped in a shot off the stick of Hannah Spiri (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley) to stretch the lead to 5-1.

Senior Kaity Kalady (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) closed out the scoring with three minutes to play, scoring off a cross from Bridget Fontaine (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) for the final of 6-1.

The Red Devils outshout the Owls 15-7 and held a 9-6 advantage in penalty corners, after the teams were tied, 4-4, in both categories at the break.

Maggie Titus made five saves for Bryn Mawr as the fall to 7-6 overall and 1-6 in the Centennial Conference.

Junior Heather Meeder (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) made three shots in goal for the Red Devils.

Dickinson improves to 3-10 overall and 2-6 in the conference. They are on the road on Wednesday, traveling to Juniata College for a 7:00 pm start.
