Eagles Rally to Hold Off Red Devils 2-1

Box Score

(Huntingdon, Pa.) – The Dickinson field hockey team rallied from a 1-0 deficit, but host Juniata College was able to answer, claiming a 2-1 decision on Wednesday night.

The Eagles struck right out of the gate, scoring just 37 seconds into the contest, off the stick of Olivia Marker.

The Red Devils pulled even, eight minutes into the second half as Marie Laverdiere (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) capitalized on a corner, knotting the game in the 43rd minute.

Juniata tallied the game-winner on a well-executed penalty corner in the 62nd minute. Sarah Alexander was the trigger and finished with a one-two pass from Marker and Lindsey Scholten back to the insert for the 2-1 lead.

Junior Heather Meeder (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) made eight saves, turning away a flurry in the opening minutes of the match.

The Eagles outshout the Devils 16-2 and held an 8-4 advantage in corners.

The Red Devils slip to 3-11 on the season. They return to Centennial Conference action on Saturday, traveling to Haverford College for a 12:30 pm start.
