Women's Squash Claims Third at PA Cup

(Lancaster, Pa.) – The #18-ranked Dickinson women's squash team captured third-place at the Second Annual Pennsylvania Cup, topping #21-Franklin & Marshall, 7-2, on Sunday afternoon.

First-years Courtney Trail (Palmerston North, N.Z./Palmerston North Girls School) and Lindsay Kuracina (Thorn Hill, Ontario, Canada/Lake Forest) won in straight sets to capture the top two flights.

Domenica Romo (Ambato, Ecuador/Colegio Atenas) overcame a 1-0 deficit to take the third flight (7-11, 11-9, 15-13, 11-9).

Aya Sobhy (Stroudsburg, Pa./Blair Academy) earned the point in the number five spot with a 3-1 decision and Carley Barton (Harare, Zimbabwe, Chisipite) won in straight sets at number eight.

Senior Abbie Wingerd (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) survived a five-set battle to win the seventh and first-year Rachel O'Brien (West Roxbury, N.Y./Dana Hall School) earned the point in the nine flight.

The Red Devils improve to 1-1 on the season. They host Bates College next Saturday in the home opener at 1:00 pm.
