Red Devil Redemption for Women's Squash

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The #18-ranked Dickinson women's squash team avenged a loss from the CSA nationals, edging #17-Bates College, 5-4, at the Kline Center on Saturday afternoon.

First-year Lindsay Kuracina (Thorn Hill, Ontario, Canada/Lake Forest, Ill.) overcame a 2-0 deficit in the second flight to earn the point in a thrilling five-set match-up (9-11, 6-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-4).

Senior Domenica Romo (Ambato, Ecuador/Colegio Atenas) captured a well-contested third flight on four sets, (11-8, 8-11, 11-9, 11-8).

Bates claimed the four and five spots, but the Red Devils earned points in seven, eight, nine flights to decide the match. Senior Alanis Perez (New Haven, Conn./Canterbury School) won in straight sets while Carley Barton (Harare, Zimbabwe/Chisipite) held off a late push from Molly Brooks to win the seventh (11-5, 9-11, 11-9, 16-14).

Senior Nicole DeLuca (Newtown Square, Pa./Baldwin) survived a challenge in a five-set battle in the eight spot (11-3, 11-8, 9-11, 8-11, 11-4).

The Red Devils improve to 2-1 on the season. They travel to Wesleyan University to face William Smith and Colby on December 1st.
