Box Score (Memphis, Tenn.) – The Dickinson women's lacrosse team rallied with a 9-0 run to post a 19-14 win at Rhodes College on Wednesday afternoon in Memphis.
The game was a tight battle throughout the first half with the biggest lead coming for Rhodes at 4-2 and 5-3. The teams traded goals with Rhodes holding an 8-7 edge at halftime.
Sam Marmo (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) scored twice while the Red Devils capitalized on four free position attempts before the break.
First-year Mack Maurer (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's Belfield) stuck right out of the break to pull the Devils even before Rhodes countered with three straight to take a 10-8 advantage with 25 minutes to play.
The Red Devils came alive, going on a 9-0 run, triggered by back-to-back goals from first-year Laurie Travaglini (Darien, Conn./Darien). Junior Eleanor Kaestner (Glyndon, Md./Franklin) and first-year Erika Bloes (Riverside, Conn./Greenwich) each scored twice during the run with Marmo and Maurer adding goals as well.
Maurer handed out assists on both of Kaestner's tallies and fed classmate Madie French (Paoli, Pa./Conestoga) for another.
Rhodes added three more goals around and assist and free position goal from Greta Holt (Alexandria, Va./Episcopal) for the final of 19-14.
Maurer finished with two goals and four assists, adding three caused turnovers and four draw controls while Kaestner found the net four times on the day. Travaglini tallied a hat-trick and Holt controlled 10 draws on the day.
Maddie Parker (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) and French each caused three turnovers and first-year goaltender Avery Priest (San Rafael, Calif./St. Ignatius Prep) made eight saves to earn the win in the nets.
The Red Devils improve to 3-2 on the season. They travel to Nashville and will face Denison University (Ohio) on Saturday at 1:00 pm central (2:00 pm eastern time).
