Red Devils Roll Past Bears on Senior Day 21-10

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's lacrosse team celebrated senior day with a dominant win over visiting Ursinus College. The Red Devils outscored the Bears 11-4 in the first half and kept the pace after the break for a 21-10 victory.

Seniors Katie Barton (Cincinnati, Ohio/Cincinnati Country Day) and Julia Primeau (Yarmouth, Maine/Yarmouth) were honored before the game and led the Red Devils to a big win in the regular season finale and into the Centennial Conference playoffs for the third straight year.

First-year Erika Bloes (Riverside, Conn./Greenwich) sent the seniors off with an outstanding performance of her own, netting five goals and handing out three assists on the day. Classmate Mack Maurer (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's Belfield) recorded a hat trick as well.

Six different players found the net as the Red Devils jumped out to a 6-0 advantage. Maurer and Bloes each struck twice and Bloes added an assist to Anne Dunster (Cos Cobb, Conn./Greenwich) to put Dickinson in front, 11-4, at halftime.

The Bears came out of halftime and traded goals with the Red Devils over the opening 10 minutes. Bloes scored and then fed Eleanor Kaestner (Glyndon, Md./Frederick) to make the score 15-7, with 21:07 left to play.

Barton gave the Devils a 10-point advantage with 15:20 to play as they finished just as strong as they started.

The Bears dominated on the draws in the first half but Dickinson adjusted in the second half to claim 12-of-17 after the break. Greta Holt (Alexandria, Va./Episcopal) led the way with four draws while Maddie Parker (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) and McKenzie Rambusch (Madison, N.J./Madison) each pulled down three.

Laurie Travaglini (Darien, Conn./Darien) had great game in the midfield, forcing four turnovers and controlling six ground balls. Mindy Corney (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) tallied two GBs, two draws and forced three turnovers as well.

First-year Avery Priest (San Rafael, Calif./St. Ignatius Prep) made four saves on the afternoon.

The Red Devils improve to 8-8 overall and 5-4 in the Centennial Conference. They earned the #5-seed in the conference playoffs and will travel to Haverford College on Wednesday for the first round.
