Red Devils Battle #5 Seagulls in 1-0 Setback

(Dallas, Pa.) – The Dickinson field hockey team had a strong outing in its season opener, but dropped a tough, 1-0 decision to Salisbury University on Friday afternoon. The Seagulls are ranked fifth in the nation in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) preseason poll.

Salisbury scored the lone goal, just over seven minutes into the contest as Emily Lemanski scored off an assist from Jenna Partilla.

The Seagulls tallied 21 shots on the day as junior Heather Meeder (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) turned away 11 shots on the afternoon.

The Red Devils added some offensive pressure in the second half and forced seven penalty corners on the day while holding defensively on 12 corners on the other end.

The Red Devils are in action again on Saturday, traveling to Elizabethtown for a 3:00 pm match-up with the Blue Jays.
