Amherst Holds Off Red Devils in Top 20 Showdown

(Amherst, Mass.) – The #17-ranked Dickinson women's squash team traveled to #16-ranked Amherst for a top-20 showdown on Tuesday afternoon. The Red Devils earned points in the first and second flights, but the hosts were able to claim the win, 7-2.

First-year Lindsay Kuracina (Thorn Hill, Ontario, Canada/Lake Forest, Ill.) overcame a tough first set to win the top flight (8-11, 11-7, 11-4, 11-7). Classmate Courtney Trail (Palmerston North, N.Z./Palmerston North Girls School) claimed the point in the second flight, holding off a late push from Rachel Ang (11-5, 7-11, 11-5, 12-10).

Sophomore Eloise Nimoityn (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Episcopal Academy) played tough match in the third flight, but dropped an (11-6, 11-8, 12-10) setback to Lily Soroko.

Senior Nicole DeLuca (Newtown Square, Pa./Baldwin School) had a strong outing in the sixth flight before suffering a four-set decision (12-10, 11-6, 9-11, 12-10) to Keely Osborn.

The Red Devils slip to 5-4 on the season. They travel to the #11-ranked University of Virginia on Sunday for a double-header with the men's team. The first women's match is set for 2:00 pm.
