Red Devils Win Big at Bryn Mawr

Box Score

(Bryn Mawr, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's basketball team held host Bryn Mawr to just 15 points in the first half on the way to a 70-43 win on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils had a strong start as Kate Deutsch (Marlton, N.J./Camden Catholic) sandwiched a pair of layups around a three-pointer from Hannah Heiring (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata) to put Dickinson out in front, 7-0.

The Red Devils opened an 18-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and outscored the hosts, 26-7 in the second as Deutsch finished the first half with a game-high 15 points. Junior Emily Padalino (West Sand Lake, N.Y./Albany Academy) reached double-figures as well, netting 10 points before the break.

Dickinson started the second half the same as the first with two scores from Deutsch and a triple from Heiring, stretching the lead to 51-17. The Owls were able to match the Red Devils for the remainder of the quarter with Dickinson holding a 61-26 advantage at the end of the third.

First-year Tina Semevolos (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) scored to give the Red Devils their biggest lead of the night, 66-26, with just over eight minutes remaining in the game.

The Owls made a nice run to chip away at the lead over the final minutes behind a seven-point, seven rebound effort from Halena Martin.

Deutsch came up just shy of a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds, hitting 10-of-11 shots from the floor. She added two assists, two blocks and a steal.

Padalino finished with 11 points and five rebounds, knocking down a pair of three-pointers on the night. Heiring reached double-digits, adding 10 points and seven rebounds on 4-of-6 shooting.

Sophomore Halle Maeda (Santa Monica, Calif./Mira Costa) tallied six points and three rebounds while Jennifer Kremp (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) and Lizzie Becker (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends) each had five points, five rebounds, two assists and a steal.

The Red Devils improve to 8-7 overall and 5-5 in the Centennial Conference. They are on the road again on Saturday, traveling to McDaniel College for a 1:00 pm tip-off.
