Panthers Push Past Red Devils 7-2

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The #18-ranked Dickinson women's squash team suffered a 7-2 setback to visiting #14-Middlebury College on Friday night.

First-years Lindsay Kuracina (Thorn Hill, Ontario, Canada/Lake Forest, Ill.) and Courtney Trail (Palmerstown North, N.Z./Palmerstown North Girls School) continued to lead the way, claiming the Devils' points in the first and second flights, respectively.

Kuracina overcame a tough start to win the top flight in five sets. She trailed 2-0 before posting a 13-11 rally in the third and finished with set scores of 11-8 and 11-3 to earn the point (6-11, 3-11, 13-11, 11-8, 11-3).

Trail captured the second in straight sets (11-2, 11-7, 11-5).

Domenica Romo (Ambato, Ecuador/Colegio Atenas) had a strong start but dropped a hard-fought five-set battle at number five (4-11, 5-11, 11-8, 12-10, 11-8).

Carley Barton (Harare, Zimbabwe/Chisipite) fell in three marathon sets, despite and outstanding performance in the sixth spot with scores of (15-12, 12-10, 17-15).

Middlebury improves to 9-2 on the season while the Red Devils slip to 5-5 overall. Dickinson travels to the University of Virginia next weekend for the Mid-Atlantic Championships on February 2nd and 3rd.
