Box Score 2 (Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's volleyball team split a home double-header on Senior Day Saturday, dropping a 3-1 setback to Haverford before closing out the day with a strong 3-0 win over Misericordia University.
The Red Devils came out strong, taking the opening set against Haverford, 25-19. The Fords flipped the score in the second to pull even with a 25-19 decision and slipped in front, 26-24, in the third.
Dickinson continued to put up a fight, but Haverford would hang on in the fourth to claim the set, 25-20, improving to 19-8 on the season.
Emma Lange (Jupiter, Fla./Benjamin) and Hanna Riley (Littlestown, Pa./Littlestown) led the attack with 11 kills each while Lange added six digs, three aces and three blocks.
Morgan Biggs (Stephenson, Va./James Wood) reached double-figures with 10 kills while recording four block assists.
Junior setter Kristin Allgaier (Reston, Va./South Lakes) dished 35 assists, adding three kills and five digs.
Senior Jacqueline Banker (Rockaway Park, N.Y./Archbishop Malloy) and sophomore Christina Chu (Hartsdale, N.Y./Ardsley) anchored the defense with 13 and 11 digs, respectively, combining for three aces as well.
The Red Devils regrouped to post a 3-0 sweep of Misericordia, taking the first two sets 25-17 and slipping away at the end to claim the match 25-19.
Lange, Biggs and Riley each tallied nine kills in the nightcap. Riley added three blocks while Lange turned back a pair. Kylie Albertsen (Woodstock, Md./Marriots Ridge) added six kills and three blocks while Jamie Singer (Livingston, N.J./Golda Och) chipped in with four kills and an ace.
Tatiana Lopez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Puertorriqueno de Ninas) picked up some early assists and finished with five to go with 16 digs. Allgaier finished the day with 27 assists, five aces and five digs while Chu tallied seven digs.
Senior Alex Berezan (Surrey, B.C./Earl Marriott Secondary) returned to the line-up from an injury, adding five assists and a pair of digs.
The Red Devils improve to 15-8 overall and stand even at 4-4 in the Centennial Conference. They are home again on Wednesday night, hosting McDaniel College at 7:00 pm.
