LANCASTER, Pa. - After a strong season that resulted in the Red and White securing a Centennial Conference postseason berth the Dickinson volleyball team put four players on the All-Conference Team as announced by the league office on Tuesday. Sophomore outside hitter
Mallie Thomas grabbed First Team honors, while classmate libero
Avery Butcher claimed a spot on Second Team. Senior outside
Amelia Kim ended her Dickinson career with Honorable Mention.
Katie Arcara secured the Devils selection for the All-Sportsmanship Team.
First Team
Thomas, a native of Jackson, Mississippi, collected her first all-conference recognition after appearing in 28 matches, making 27 starts totaling 408 kills, 313 digs, 41 aces, 23 assists and 20 blocks. Her 460 points and 408 kills led not only the team, but also the conference. She posted double-digit kills in all but five matches, including five with double-digits notching a season-high and career-high 28 in a match on September 24th against Lancaster Bible College. That was the middle game of a three-match run where she recorded 20-plus kills racking up 21 versus Catholic (9/20) and 20 against Salisbury (9/26). In addition, she added 19 games with 10 or more digs, including a season-high 19 in the battle with Salisbury.
Second Team
Butcher, the resident of Wexford, Pennsylvania, nabbed her second straight Second Team All-Conference honor appearing in all 29 matches recording team-highs in digs with 449 and service aces at 57, while chipping in 94 assists and three kills. She finished tied for the conference lead in aces and second for digs averaging 4.30 per set. Butcher racked up the digs posting double-digits in all but four matches, with her season high coming against Lancaster Bible on September 24th when she notched 25. She was also quite strong on the service line recording multiple aces in 15 games notching a season-high nine in a conference win over Bryn Mawr on October 11th.
Honorable Mention
Kim, out of Vienna, Virginia, became a two-time all-conference selection after appearing in 28 matches, making 23 starts totaling 297 kills, 142 digs and 42 blocks. She had double-digit kills in 17 matches, including a string of ten straight games to end the regular season and finished the year hitting the double-digit mark in eleven of their final twelve matches. Her season-high 17 came against conference foe Ursinus on October 4th.
All-Sportsmanship Team
Arcara, a native of Chester Springs, Pennsylvania, was tabbed as the Devils honoree for the All-Sportsmanship Team for her contributions on and off the court.
