(New Haven, Conn.) – The #20-ranked Dickinson women's squash team captured the top seven flights to win its first match of the season, turning back #24-Connecticut College, 7-2, on Sunday at Yale University.
Sophomore Lindsay Kuracina (Thornhill, Ontario, Canada/Lake Forest) and Eloise Nimoityn (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Episcopal) had strong straight set wins in the second and third flights, posting scores of (11-3, 11-1, 11-2) and (11-8, 11-2, 11-2), respectively.
Sophomore Courtney Trail (Palmerston North, N.Z./Palmerston North Girls School) overcame a slow start to claim the top-flight with a dominant finish, (8-11, 11-2, 11-1, 11-5).
Jaime Leigh Edghill (Diego Martin, Trinidad & Tobago/Holy Name) and first-year Doxey Loupassi (Richmond, Va./St. Catherine's) added straight set wins in the fifth and sixth flights while Jocelyn Feliciano (New Haven, Conn./Ethel Walker School) held off a late charge from Davis Lemay to win the fourth (11-9, 11-3, 9-11, 11-9).
Rachel O'Brien (West Roxbury, Mass./Dana Hall School) rallied in the seventh flight, winning the last two sets to earn the point (11-8, 9-11, 11-13, 11-9, 11-9).
The Red Devils improve to 1-3 on the season. They return to action on January 10, hosting St. Lawrence University at 6:00 pm.
