Red Devils Rebound With 5-4 Win Over F&M

(Charlottesville, Va.) - The #18-ranked Dickinson women's squash team slipped past #20-Franklin & Marshall, 5-4, in the consolation round at the Mid-Atlantic Championships on Sunday afternoon at the University of Virginia.

First-year Lindsay Kuracina (Thorn Hill, Ontario, Canada/Lake Forest, Ill.) led the way with a straight set win the top flight while classmate Courtney Trail (Palmerston North, N.Z./Palmerston North Girls School) had another strong outing as well, claiming the number two spot 3-1. 

Sophomore Aya Sobhy (Stroudsburg, Pa./Blair Academy) and senior Nicole DeLuca (Newtown Square, Pa./Baldwin) captured points in the fifth and sixth flights, playing to similar outcomes for 3-1 decisions. Sobhy won her match (11-5, 8-11, 11-7, 11-9) while DeLunca tallied scores of (11-5, 11-9, 7-11, 11-9). 

Jaime Leigh Edghill (Diego Martin, Trinidad & Tobago/Holy Name) survived a thriller in the ninth for the fifth point (10-12, 11-6, 12-10, 11-7). Senior Alanis Perez (New Haven, Conn./Canterbury School) won in straight sets in exhibition. 

The Red Devils improve to 6-7 on the season. They return home to host St. Lawrence University on February 8th at 5:00 pm.
