Red Devils Top St. Mary's for Third Straight Win

Box Score

(Sparks, Md.) – The Dickinson women's lacrosse team had a strong finish to the first half and kept building on the lead in the second half as they improved to 3-0 on the season with a 13-7 win over St. Mary's College at the U.S. Lacrosse National Training Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils struck first from the stick of Maddie Parker (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) and answered a tally from Ali Collie with three straight goals to pull in front 4-1, with just under 16 minutes to play in the first half.

Senior Eleanor Kaestner (Glyndon, Md./Franklin) tallied a pair of goals with assists from classmates Anne Dunster (Cos Cobb, Conn./Greenwich) and Sam Marmo (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) to get the Red Devils started.

Dickinson saw goals from Greta Holt (Alexandria, Va./Episcopal) and Erika Bloes (Riverside, Conn./Greenwich) as well but St. Mary's would find some offense as well, cutting the deficit to 5-4, with 5:30 to play in the half.

Marmo found Kaestner once again and Bloes fed Dunster to put the Red Devils back in front by three, with just over two minutes to play. Bloes closed out the half with an assist from Parker to give Dickinson an 8-4 advantage at the break.

The Red Devils continued to build the lead after the break, scoring four straight goals to open the second half. Dunster sandwiched a pair of goals around an unassisted strike from sophomore midfielder Laurie Travaglini (Darien, Conn./Darien) to stretch the led to 11-4 with just over 20 minutes remaining.

First-year Chase Landis (New Canaan, Conn./Berkshire) assisted Dunster's second and then less than a minute later made the score, 12-4.

The Seahawks scored back-to-back goals and added another late tally while Marmo closed out the scoring for the Red Devils for the final of 13-7.

Dunster led the attack with three goals and one assist while Kaestner added a hat-trick as well. Mindy Corney (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) recorded four ground balls, Mack Maurer (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's Belfield) controlled five draws and senior McKenzie Rambusch (Madison, N.J./Madison) added three draws on the day.

Travaglini caused three turnovers on the day and picked up three GBs to go with her goal. First-year goaltender Drew Yager (Towson, Md./Notre Dame Prep) finished with seven saves.

The Red Devils improve to 3-0 on the season. They return home to face the Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday afternoon at 5:00 pm.
