Bloes Nets Five to Lead Rally Past Bears

Box Score

(Collegeville, Pa.) – The #22-ranked Dickinson women's lacrosse team rallied from behind to overtake host Ursinus College on Saturday, escaping with a 12-11 victory in Collegeville on Saturday.

Sophomore Greta Holt (Alexandria, Va./Episcopal) put the Red Devils on the board first, scoring off an assist from Mack Maurer (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's Belfield) and Erika Bloes (Riverside, Conn./Greenwich) countered goal from Ursinus to put Dickinson up 2-1 in the opening seven minutes.

The Bears went on a 5-0 run to stretch the lead to 6-2. Senior Eleanor Kaestner (Glyndon, Md./Franklin) finished the second assist of the day for Maurer to make the score 6-3 at halftime.

Ursinus capitalized on an early free position goal before the Red Devils strung together seven straight goals to pull in front 10-7.

Bloes triggered the run with a free position and tallied a natural hat-trick with three straight unassisted goals to close it out.

Senior Anne Dunster (Cos Cobb, Conn./Greenwich) scored and fed an assist to Kaestner and first-year Alex Goles (Cockeysville, Md./Roland Park) found the net during the run as well.

The Bears broke up the run and answered with two after Chase Landis (New Canaan, Conn./Berkshire) scored on an assist from Maurer to cut the deficit to one as Dickinson led 11-10 with just under five minutes to play.

Maurer put away an assist from Holt to give the Red Devils a two-goal advantage at the two-minute mark. The Bears struck again with one minute on the clock, but the Red Devils held on after Maurer controlled the final draw.

Bloes had a huge day, netting five goals on the afternoon. Maurer finished with a goal and three assists while controlling five draws.

Senior Maddie Parker (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) had a strong performance in the midfield, controlling four draws while adding three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Junior Mindy Corney (Ballston, Lake, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) anchored a solid defensive effort with four GBs while Ashley Conner (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) forced a pair of turnovers and picked up two GBs.

Sophomore Avery Priest (San Rafael, Calif./St. Ignatius Prep) came on in goal to make five saves and earn the win in the nets.

The Red Devils improve to 11-5 overall and 6-3 in the Centennial Conference. They earn the #4-seed in the conference playoffs and will host the first round match-up on Wednesday.
