Kaestner Tallies 100th Career Goal in Red Devil Win

(Westminster, Md.) – The Dickinson women's lacrosse team scored six unanswered goals in the second half to pull away from host McDaniel College, claiming a 17-12 victory on Wednesday.

Senior Eleanor Kaestner (Glyndon, Md./Franklin) led the attack with a hat-trick to become the third Red Devil this season to net her 100th career goal.

The teams traded goal in the early minutes before the Red Devils strung together four straight goals to pull in front, 6-2.

Anne Dunster (Cos Cobb, Conn./Greenwich) fed Kaestner for her second goal of the game and the 100th of her career, stretching the lead to 7-3.

Dunster fed Erika Bloes (Riverside, Conn./Greenwich) for her second of the game, putting Dickinson in front, 8-3, with 12:58 remaining in the half.

McDaniel scored three straight before Dunster stopped the run with an unassisted tally for a 9-6 lead. Mack Maurer (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's Belfield) stretched the lead to four with an assist from Greta Holt (Alexandria, Va./Episcopal) before the Green Terror added a late goal to make the score, 10-7 at halftime.

Megan Quattrone struck twice in the opening three minutes of the second half to pull McDaniel within a goal. Dunster traded goals with Lindsey Farrell before the Red Devils made their six-goal run to stretch the margin to 17-10 at the 3:28 mark.

The Green Terror added a pair of goals for the 17-12 final.

Dunster finished with three goals, three assists and five ground balls while classmate Sam Marmo (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) added a hat-trick with three goals and one assist.

Laurie Travaglini (Darien, Conn./Darien) tallied a pair of goals and Maurer finished with a goal and two assists to go with eight draw controls. Clare Janzer (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) had a great outing as well, forcing five turnovers and controlling four ground balls.

Avery Priest (San Rafael, Calif./St. Ignatius Prep) made four saves and Drew Yager (Towson, Md./Notre Dame Prep) came on in the second half to make one save while holding the Terror to five goals.

The Red Devils improve to 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the Centennial Conference. They return home to host Haverford College on Saturday at 12:00 pm.
