Women's Lacrosse Topples #23 Haverford 13-8

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's lacrosse team turned in an outstanding performance on Saturday, jumping out to an early lead on the way to 13-8 win over #23-ranked Haverford College.

The Red Devils jumped out to a 3-0 start behind a goal and a pair of assists from senior Anne Dunster (Cos Cobb, Conn./Greenwich).

The 'Fords broke up the run but sophomore Mack Maurer (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's Belfield) countered with a pair of goals and an assist to senior Eleanor Kaestner (Glydon, Md./Franklin) to stretch the lead to 6-1 with 16:25 remaining in the first half.

The Red Devils answered another tally from Haverford with a three straight goals. Sophomore Erika Bloes (Riverside, Conn./Greenwich) finished an assist from Sam Marmo (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) before Maurer connected with Kaestner for the second time on the day.

Dunster made her way to the goal to make the score 9-2 with just over a minute to play. Haverford tallied a late goal just before halftime.

Kaestner opened the second half with a free position and Dunster fed Marmo to give Dickinson an 11-3 advantage at the 18-minute mark.

Allie Gibbons led the charge as Haverford looked to make a run, netting four straight goals to cut the deficit to 11-4 with 12 minutes remaining.

The Red Devils added some insurance with a free-positions from Marmo and Bloes. Haverford would find the net once more for the final of 13-8.

Bloes, Kaestner and Marmo each tallied a hat-trick while Dunster scored twice and dished out three assists.

Maurer tallied two goals, two assists and dominated on the draw with seven on the day. Maddie Parker (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) controlled six draws and forced three turnovers to go with a pair of ground balls.

Sophomore Laurie Travaglini (Darien, Conn./Darien) turned in a great performance as well, forcing four turnovers and picking up four grounds balls. First-year goaltender Drew Yager (Towson, Md./Notre Dame Prep) made seven saves in the nets.

The Red Devils improve to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in the Centennial Conference. They are home again next Saturday, hosting Swarthmore College at 3:00 pm.
