(Brunswick, Maine) – The #20-ranked Dickinson women's squash team dropped a 5-4 heartbreaker at #28-Bowdoin College on Wednesday morning and suffered a 9-0 setback at #17-Bates in the second match of the day.
Sophomore Courtney Trail (Palmerston North, N.Z./Palmerston North Girls' School) led the way for the Red Devils against Bowdoin, claiming the top-flight in straight sets (11-5, 11-7, 11-8).
First-year Doxey Loupassi (Richmond, Va./St. Catherine's) had a strong showing to capture the number six spot (11-6, 11-8, 11-5) while classmate Katelynn Young (Philadelphia, Pa./Friends Select School) won the point in the ninth flight (11-4, 12-10, 11-7).
Sophomore Rachel O'Brien (West Roxbury, Mass./Dana Hall School) earned the decision at number seven (11-7, 10-12, 11-3, 11-4).
The Red Devils turned in solid performances in each match. First-year Jocelyn Feliciano (New Haven, Conn./Ethel Walker School) battled to a five-game setback in the third flight while Jaime Leigh Edghill (Diego Martin, Trinidad & Tobago/Holy Name) put up a fight before falling in the second flight.
Feliciano had another five-set marathon in the Bate match, falling (8-11, 11-5, 12-10, 4-11, 11-4) and Loupassi put up a solid fight at number six.
The Red Devils slip to 3-5 on the season. They travel to #24-ranked Colby College for a 5:00 pm match on Thursday.
