(Carlisle, Pa.) – The 26-ranked Dickinson men's squash team held off visiting #22-ranked Tufts University in a 5-4 thriller at the Kline Center while the #20-Red Devil women suffered a 7-2 setback to the #19-ranked Jumbos on Saturday.
Senior Abdelrahman Elsergany (Cairo, Egypt/Kent School, Conn.) swept the top-flight (11-5, 11-8, 11-6) while Alex Wattles (Millbrook, N.Y./Millbrook) survived a five-set battle to win the second (11-9, 14-12, 10-12, 11-9).
Tanay Murdia (New Fatehpura Udaipur, India/Delhi Public School) overcame a slow start to capture a hard-fought match in the number three spot (7-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-9).
Osuman Imoro (New Haven, Conn./Trinity Pawling) and Kobe Fleming (Whitby, New Zealand) put the Red Devils over the top with four-set wins in the fourth and fifth flights.
Courtney Trail (Palmerston North, N.Z./Palmerston North Girls' School) led the Red Devil women with a four-set decision in the number one spot, winning (11-4, 12-14, 11-9, 11-6).
First-year Doxey Loupassi (Richmond, Va./St. Catherine's) added the other point for the Red Devils with a well-played three-set victory (12-10, 11-9, 11-9).
Jocelyn Feliciano (New Haven, Conn./Ethel Walker School) had a strong showing the third flight as well but suffered a 3-1 setback. (11-9, 1-11, 11-7, 11-5).
Both teams are right back in action tomorrow, hosting the University of Virginia at 1:00 pm.
