(Auburndale, Fla.) – The Dickinson baseball team dropped an 11-3 decision in an early morning match-up with Rensselaer on Monday.

The Engineers took an early lead, scoring three runs in the top of the second inning and adding a pair in the sixth.

The Red Devils countered with a run in the sixth on back-to-back doubles from Alex Cohen (Newtown Square, Pa./Penn Charter) and Max Matilsky (Bernardsville, N.J./Morristown-Beard).

Each team pushed across a pair in the seventh to put RPI up 7-3. Colin Jones (Herndon, Va./Herndon) stepped in with a pinch-hit double and Tom Gannaway (Westfield, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) came through with a double to score Brendan Pell (Delran, N.J./Penn Charter) and pinch-runner Lukas Atsalis (West Hyannis Port, Mass./The Berkschire School).

RPI tacked on a run in the eighth and scored three in the ninth for the final of 11-3.

Gannaway led the Red Devils with a pair of RBI as the Engineers held the Red Devils to six hits on the day. Connor Langan (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) went 6.2 innings in the hill, recording six strikeouts.

The Red Devils move to 6-5 on the season. They return to action on Wednesday, facing Washington University (St. Louis) at 12:00 pm.
