Swarthmore was on the front foot early as they recorded the opening three shots of the match with Dean Chong and Henry Lin missing the mark while Sean Nolan was denied by Devils keeper
Andrew Kempe inside the opening ten minutes. The Garnet kept up the attack in the 16th when Nolan was stopped once again by Kempe. That save sparked the Devils offense as the home side scored with their first two shots of the match. First,
Saul Iwowo played a nice ball into
Tyson Burling who beat the keeper, before Burling finished off a corner from
Luke Beiles for the 2-0 lead with 22:10 off the clock. Dickinson tried to extend the margin to three through
Ethan Jarden and
Jackson Wolf, but both missed the target. The visitors outshot the hosts 3-1 the remainder of the half, however neither side bothered the keeper.
Swarthmore kicked off the second period tallying the opening two chances as Chong missed high right, while Bless Tumushabe was stopped by Kempe with ten minutes off the clock. Three minutes later Burling went in search of his hat trick, but Caleb Ehrenhaft was there to shut the door. Unfortunately, for the Red and White that woke up the visitors offense as Joseph Eyiolowope fired a shot beyond the reach of Kempe trimming the lead to 2-1 in the 64th-minute. Dickinson got that goal back five minutes later as Iwowo buried the ball behind the keeper making 3-1. Tumushabe recorded two more chances for the guests, before Burling found
Chaz Smith for the 4-1 advantage in the 75th. The Garnet pulled one back at the 77:43 mark when Grant Nguyen tipped a shot past Kempe for the 4-2 final.    Â
