Devils Remain Flawless at Home

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's soccer team got goals from three different players, including a brace from senior Meg Tate as the Red and White were able to overpower the visiting Muhlenberg College by a scoreline of 4-1 on Tuesday afternoon in Centennial Conference action at Miller Memorial Field. With the win the Devils remain unbeaten at home for the season improving to 5-0 in Carlisle.

The home side was off and running early as Emma Cooney played in a corner to Georgia Mantione who slid a pass to Charlotte Glancey who rocketed a shot over Sara Pecorelli for the 1-0 edge with just 64-seconds off the clock. Dickinson kept applying the pressure recording four shots with Jessica Kiefer, Katie Vassilakos, Cooney, and Tate, all missing the mark, before Tate tallied her first of two on the day in the 27th-minute making it 2-0. The keepers would be busy the remainder of the half as Sophia Kavulich had to turn away Casie Burke, while Sophia Elguera, Caleigh Fletcher, and Sarah Hughes were told no by Pecorelli to hold the score at 2-0 going to the break.

Kavullich and Pecorelli were called into action early in the second period with the Mules keeper stopping Ellie Nordwind and Tate, while the home goalie beat away an attempt from Burke. The Red and White pushed the margin to 3-0 at the 61:13 mark as Vassilakos sent a corner into the box that was finished off by Tate extending the margin to 3-0. Tate went in search of her hat trick three minutes later, but Pecorelli was up to the task. Then, Kavulich was tasked with keeping her cleansheet in tact during the 72nd-minute when she saved a shot by Paige Addis. The next Dickinson chance came with 86:54 gone as Allie Charnas put the ball behind the keeper off a double-assist between Isra Khan and Kiera Shoup. Unfortunately, for the home side the visitors ended the shutout bid with just over two minutes left thanks to Eliana Nelson-Levy for the 4-1 final.
