WESTMINSTER, Md. - The Dickinson women's team was unable to find a goal on Saturday as a 71st-minute marker by Jessica Weinoldt was enough for (RV) McDaniel College to edge out the Red and White by a final of 1-0 in Centennial Conference play at the Green Terror Soccer Complex.
It took 30 minutes for either side to record a shot in the match as
Emma Cooney forced a stop out of Katherine Carstensen. Four minutes later it was
Ellie Nordwind who was told no by the keeper. That stop led to a transition opportunity for McDaniel with Samantha Rodrick denied by Devils goalie
Sophia Kavulich. Dickinson had one last chance in the first half when
Meg Tate had her attempt sail wide of the mark to take the match to the break at 0-0.
Early in the second period it was the Green Terror out on the front foot with Kiersten Crowley missing to the left in the 48th-minute, before Taylor Clawson was turned to the side by Kavulich to hold things scoreless. Six minutes later the Red and White found their way in the attacking third as
Katie Vassilakos ripped a shot just to the right of goal. Dickinson would be held without a shot the rest of the way, while Weinoldt put a pass from Jessie Titus beyond the reach of Kavulich for the game-winner.
